About the song

Happy Birthday to You is sung at birthdays all over the world. The melody is the same as an older song, "Good Morning to All", credited to the sisters Mildred J. Hill and Patty Smith Hill. Here you play the melody only.

What makes it a little harder

The tune covers a full octave, from G4 up to G5, and the third line jumps up to the highest note. Each line starts with a short note and a slightly longer note on the same key, which gives the song its swing.

How to practise

Learn the song line by line. Lines one and two are almost the same, so practise them together. For the big jump in line three, look at the high G before you play it. Use Listen first to hear the rhythm, then play along at your own pace.
